About
Horacio Blackwood encompasses a lifetime of experience steeped in arts and entertainment. After a decade in the limelight performing and choreographing for such notable acts as Prince, Aailyah, C&C Music Factory and others, Horacio went behind the scenes to be the support for other artists. Horacio honed his talent managing skills under the tutelage of the late Richard Scott, founder of the Dick Scott Group (New Kids On The Block, Boyz II Men, Patti Austin, James Ingram, Mark Walhberg, and many more). The DSG lineage includes veterans Johnny Wright (Manager of ‘NSync, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson) and Miguel Melendez of Overbrook Entertainment (Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Robin Thicke, Jennifer Hudson, Deborah Cox).
After working with Dick "Hog" Scott for several years, Horacio poured his creative energy into the development of his own New York based management and production company, Shades, Inc, with co-founder Keith "Boogie" Williams. He represented a select group of dancers, choreographers, models, singers and music producers and gained industry attention upon signing his first recording artist with the major record label, A&M/Universal Records. After relocating to Los Angeles and forming Blackwood Entertainment, Horacio ventured into the world of television and film, creating and developing several projects, signing a client with the prestigious Creative Artists Agency, while managing several notable clients thus establishing Blackwood Entertainment as a high profile company in the industry. A creator of effective marketing strategies, Horacio consulted for several production companies including Nu-Lite Entertainment with the development and release of the 20th Century Fox feature film, “Color Of The Cross,” which he also served as a Producer. After launching his film production company Blackwood Films, LLC, Horacio continued adding a myriad of talented actors, writers and directors to his talent roster, many who were listed with top Hollywood agencies. In 2001, Horacio joined the Talent Managers Association (TMA), an organization that helps maintain the highest level of credibility for the profession of personal talent management. From 2003-2007, he served as one of the eleven members on the board of directors. He was a member of the National Association of Artist Managers (NAAM) and served on several committees including the Seymour Heller Award committee and TMA Ethics committee. In 2008, Horacio dissolved his company as a result of dealing with a devastating, unfortunate circumstance which affected his business and personal life. With a renewed Spirit Horacio continues to pursue his passion for supporting and guiding careers, developing and executing projects, consulting and creating success in each avenue of the entertainment industry. |
